Litter pick at Attenborough Nature Reserve
The Rotary Club of Wollaton Park organised a litter pick around the Attenborough Nature Reserve on Saturday 8th June in support of World Ocean’s Day which highlights the plight of our oceans caused by plastic waste being taken to the sea via our rivers and streams.
A wet start to the day did not deter 26 volunteers drawn from the Rotary Club, Waitrose Wollaton, Army Cadet Force and Strelley Youth Club armed with all the necessary equipment kindly supplied by Broxtowe Borough Council Clean and Green initiative. Under the guidance of a member of staff from the Notts Wildlife Trust the volunteers, operating in small teams, covered the main walkways throughout the reserve collecting litter.
Everyone taking part said that they had enjoyed doing their bit for the environment and will be pleased to be involved in future litter picks around the area.
Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland is actively involved in community projects and anyone wishing to find out more about the many opportunities to get involved may contact David Pedlar on d.pedlar@ntlworld.com
